Riu Caribe

Riu Caribe

It’s been a while since I’ve been to an all-inclusive resort! And it’s been a long time since I’ve been to Cancun, Mexico (2016!). I arrived yesterday and so far it’s been a great break from the -20C of Canadian winter. The weather is a beautiful and (usually) sunny 25C.

The Caribe has so far been a nice resort with some great food and the typical resort activities (volleyball, three pools including a pool bar, low-impact resistance training and water activities. The beach has been nice with a good amount of beach chairs and towels available with your card. The interior has several bars (one that also makes espresso drinks) and a few a la carte restaurants that I haven’t been to yet. The staff so far have been very friendly and attentive and since our flight was delayed by an insane amount of time, our room was upgraded which was a nice touch.

Breakfast (7:30-11:00) has been really good with an assortment of different choices like scrambled eggs, avocados, various fruits, bacon, sausages, and an insane amount of carb choices like pancakes, French toast, and pastries. There’s an espresso machine or coffee that the servers bring around.

Lunch has been the standout for me so far with options like tacos made when requested (barbacoa or al pastor) and hamburgers, salad, pizza, fries, guacamole, pasta, and a lot more. The desserts for the most part have also been not overly sweet and not too filling which has been nice with options such as passionfruit cakes, cheesecake, and chocolate cakes.

Haven’t really experienced the nightlife and can’t say that I will since I’m usually in bed by 10 but I see there are a lot of party options available throughout the week. All in all seems like a good experience so far.
